Tenzidek jelenlétében a hidrogélek kollapszus-hőmérséklete nagymértékben megváltozik, ami a tenzideket tartalmazó készítményekben korlátozza alkalmazásukat. A polimer/tenzid kölcsönhatásra általunk kidolgozott, az irodalomban általánosan elfogadott termodinamikai elméletnek a gélekre történő alkalmazásával különböző átlagos keresztkötés-sűrűségű géleken történő mérésekkel a gél/tenzid kölcsönhatást tervezzük tanulmányozni.
Micro- or nanogel particles have received significant attention due to their potential applications in a wide range of areas. In particular, stimuli-responsive hydrogels (“intelligent” materials) are of great interest because of their extreme temperature sensitivity, including their swelling-deswelling behavior and permeability of substances. In spite of numerous studies on microgels little is known about their inner structure, electric properties and interaction with surfactants.
The aim of the project is to continue our previous research on poly-N-isopropylacrylamide microgels in two directions.
We plane to synthesize core/shell microgel samples with charged core and electrically neutral shell and the reverse. These new models can help to decide which is the correct one among the contradicting theories of electrophoretic mobility of the microgels.
The influence of surfactant on the collapse temperature may limit the utility of temperature-sensitive gels in products formulated with surfactants. Microgel samples in a broad range of mean cross-link density will be synthesized to show the differences and similarities between the polymer/surfactant and microgel surfactant interaction extending our thermodynamic theory of polymer/surfactant interaction for microgels.
The structure of the microgel particles plays an important role both in swelling properties and in the interaction with surfactants. We plan to perform studies on microgel particles of homogeneous inner segment density distribution produced by a new unpublished preparation method.

Ezek az eredmények paradigmaváltást jelenthetnek e filmek ipari előállításának kiaknázásában. e/ A katinos tenzidek poli(vinilalkohol-vinilszulfát) kopolimerhez való kötődése három tartományra bontható. Kis tenzidkoncentrációknál a rendszer valódi oldat, majd kompakt kolloid részecskék keletkeznek, melyek koagulálnak, végül további tenzidadalékkal ismét valódi oldat képződik.

a/ A new one pot preparation method was developed for the synthesis of the charged core/shell microgel structures. Beyond the simplicity of the new method the shell is chemically attached to the core and onion-like structures with multiple shells can be also prepared. b/ Investigating microgel particles with different internal electric structures we found that contrary to the free draining model, the surface charge model could predict the expected constant electrokinetic charge from the swollen to the collapsed state. c/ Different nonequilibrium mechanisms of oppositely charged polyelectrolyte/surfactant system were investigated. The aggregates become trapped at the interface and lateral flocculation occurs. Our findings helps to interpret the seemingly mysterious irreproducible effects in wide-ranging applications. d/ A new method was described to prepare polyelectrolyte-surfactant membranes by spreading from neutral aggregates. The macromolecules adsorb in a monolayer even though they are not surface-active alone and behave as perfectly insoluble film. Our findings signal a paradigm shift for a range of deposition-based technologies. e/ The interaction of cationic surfactants with sodium poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinyl sulfate) copolymer was investigated. The binding of the cationic surfactant occurs in three steps. First the system is a stable solution, than coagulating compact colloid particles form, finally, the particles re-swell again.
