kutatási eredmények (magyarul)
Elektrogyenge vektorbozonpárok (VV') keletkezését, és két előre szórt nagy pszeudorapiditás különbségű hadronzáporral kísért (VV'jj) szórását tanulmányoztuk, valamint a Standard Model (SM) szuperszimmetrikus (SUSY) kiterjesztései által jósolt új nehéz részecskék megjelenését kerestük. A CERN LHC CMS kísérlet 13 TeV energián gyűjtött Run 2 adatkészletét dolgoztuk fel. Megfigyeltük Zγjj, Wγjj, WWjj elektrogyenge keletkezését 5σ feletti szignifikanciával, és bizonyítékot találtunk ZZjj keletkezésre 4σ szinten. A mért differenciális hatáskeresztmetszetek jó egyezést mutatnak a rendelkezésre álló magasabb rendű perturbatív QCD számításokkal, így szigorú felső korlátokat határoztunk meg az anomális csatolásokra egy 8 dimenziós effektív térelméletben, amely leírja az új fizika lehetséges hozzájárulását. A szuperszimmetrikus partnerrészecskék keresése R-paritás őrző modellekben nem hozott jelentős eseménytöbbletet a SM előrejelzéséhez képest, így a SUSY részecskepárok keletkezési hatáskeresztmetszetére és a partnerrészecskék (gluínók, skalár-t-kvarkok, csardzsínók és neutralínók) tömegére korlátokat adtunk meg különböző modellekben. Vezető szerepet vállaltunk a CMS detektor üzemeltetésében, kalibrálásában, teljesítményének mérésében és megújításában is, elsősorban a belső nyomkövető detektorra és a luminozitásdetektorokra koncentrálva. Precíziós luminozitás mérést végeztünk, amely elengedhetetlen a W-, Z- és Higgs-bozon, valamint a t-kvark folyamatok pontos méréséhez az LHC-n.
kutatási eredmények (angolul)
We studied electroweak (EW) vector boson pair (VV’) production, and vector boson scattering tagged by two forward jets with large rapidity separation (VV’jj), as well as searched for new heavy particles arising in supersymmetric (SUSY) extensions of the Standard Model (SM). We analyzed the Run 2 data set of the CMS experiment collected at 13 TeV energy at the CERN LHC. We observed EW production of Zγjj, Wγjj, WWjj with a significance above 5σ, and found evidence for ZZjj at the 4σ level. The measured differential cross sections show good agreement with the available higher order perturbative QCD calculations, and thus stringent upper limits were derived on anomalous couplings in a dim-8 effective field theory describing possible contributions from new physics. The searches for supersymmetric partner particles in R-parity conserving models did not reveal any significant excess over the SM predictions, and thus constraints on the production cross section of SUSY particle pair production, and on the mass of the partner particles (gluinos, scalar top quarks, charginos, and neutralinos) are presented in various SuGra and GGM models. We also co-led the operation, calibration, performance evaluation and upgrade efforts of the CMS detector, focusing on the inner tracking system and the luminometers. We performed precision luminosity determination which is essential for the accurate measurements of W, Z, and Higgs boson, as well as top quark processes at the LHC.
