A projekt keretében támogatott nemzetközi tudományos/innovációs rendezvény bemutatása Mutassa be a szervezés alatt álló nemzetközi rendezvény jellegét, célját, programját, célcsoportját és jelentőségét a nemzetközi, illetve hazai tudományos élet szempontjából. Jelen pályázat tárgyát képező GeoMATES ’22 konferencia egy elsősorban jelenléti, de online hibrid részvételre is lehetőséget adó tudományos rendezvény. Célja a földtudományi alapokon nyugvó multidiszciplináris geomatematika tudományos ismereteinek és tapasztalatainak megosztása, a kutatás-fejlesztési eredmények disszeminációja az oktatásban és az iparban, valamint a nemzetközi együttműködések ösztönzése a tudomány, a kutatás-fejlesztés és az innováció területén egyaránt. Emellett az eddigi tapasztalatok alapján a konferencia fontos szerepet tölt be a cégek közötti aktív tudásmegosztásban. A konferencián az alábbi témakörökben várjuk előadók munkáit: monitoring idősorok elemzése, rezervoár geológia, big data a földtudományokban, klíma modellezés: szélsőségek múlt és jövő, adatelemzés a mérnökgeológiában, geoinformatika, agrár- és környezetinformatika, digitális talajtérképezés stb. Célcsoport a hazai és nemzetközi felsőoktatásban, kutatói szférában dolgozó kutatók és doktoranduszok, MSc hallgatók, továbbá a témában dolgozó ipari szereplők (K + F) és azok munkatársai. A konferencia a magyar és közép európai tudományos szférában hiánypótló, nagy múltú esemény, a korábbi Geomatematikai Ankétok utódja. Az “ankét” korábban 2009-2015 között minden második alkalommal Horvátországban, a Horvát Földtani Társulattal közösen került megrendezésre, majd 2017-től kilépett regionális jellegéből. A 2019-es - a pályázó által is szervezett - legutóbbi eseményen 63 résztvevő 9 országból, több mint 25 különböző intézményből: egyetemekről, állami-, kutatóintézetektől, vagy az ipari szférát képviselő cégektől (pl. Mecsekérc Zrt., MOL Nyrt.) érkezett. Összesen 31 előadás hangzott el közel 10 órányi tudományos tartalommal és 12 e-poszter került bemutatásra.
A projekt összefoglalója, célkitűzései laikusok számára Adjon egy rövid, közérthető ismertetést a szervezés alatt álló nemzetközi rendezvényről és annak várható eredményeiről. A GeoMATES ’22 konferencia célja a földtudományi alapokon nyugvó tér- és időbeli adatok vizsgálatával keletkezett eredmények megosztása az esemény résztvevői között, valamint a nemzetközi együttműködések ösztönzése a tudomány, a kutatás-fejlesztés és az innováció területén egyaránt. A konferencia várható hatása, hogy összeköti a környezeti- és földtudományi adatokkal dolgozó kutatókat, egyetemi oktatókat és ipari szereplőket. Aktív tudásmegosztás jön létre, ami elősegíti a tudományterület innovációját és a hazai versenyképességet. Utóbbihoz nagyban hozzájárul a külföldi előadók szerepe, akik külföldön megszerzett tudásukat mutatják be a magyar kollégáknak és egyúttal a magyar eredmények is könnyebben eljutnak a külföldi műhelyekhez. Ki kell még emelni a tudományos utánpótlás támogatását. A konferencián a fiatal kollégák kutatóknak (MSc, PhD) lehetősége nyílik akár első tudományos eredményeik bemutatására, megmérettetni magukat. Továbbá személyes kapcsolatok épülnek ki, melyek segítik végzés utáni hatékony elhelyezkedésüket.

Presentation of the international scientific/innovation event supported in the project Present the type, purpose, agenda, targeted audience, and significance of the international event organized in the international and domestic scientific community. The subject of the present proposal - The GeoMATES ’22 conference- is a primarily in-person scientific congress with the option of online participation. It aims to share the scientific knowledge and experience of geomathematics based in multidisciplinary earth sciences by (i) disseminating research and development results in education and industry, and (ii) encouraging international collaboration in science and RDI. In addition, if experience to date is anything to go by, the conference will play an important role in active knowledge sharing between companies. We are looking forward to presenting topics at the conference such as: monitoring time series analysis; reservoir geology; big data in earth sciences; climate modeling: extremes, past and future; data analysis in engineering geology; geoinformatics; agricultural and environmental informatics; digital soil mapping, etc. The target groups are researchers and PhD students working in domestic and international higher education, the research sector, MSc students, as well as industry actors (R&D) working in the field. The conference is the successor of the former ‘Geomathematics Conference’ held every second year between 2009 and 2015 n Croatia, in cooperation with the Croatian Geological Society. From 2017 onwards, the conference aimed to reach participants from outside the region. The last conference (2019) -organized by the applicant- had 63 participants from 9 countries and more than 25 institutions (universities, research institutes etc.) including from industry (e.g. Mecsekérc Plc., MOL Plc.). A total of 31 presentations were held and 12 e-posters on show.
Summary and aims of the project for a general audience Provide a short, general introduction to the international event organized and its expected results. The GeoMATES ’22 conference aims to share the results of earth science based analyses of spatial and temporal datasets among the participants of the conference arriving from the higher education, research and industry and RDI sectors. The aim with the forthcoming conference is to bring together researchers, academics and industry players working with environmental and earth science data. It is hoped that active knowledge sharing at the conference will promote innovation in science and domestic competitiveness. It is also expected that this will benefit from the presence of foreign and Hungarian participants and lecturers sharing knowledge. Also high on the conference’s agenda is the scientific training of young people. At the conference, MSc and PhD researchers will have the opportunity to present their work – in some cases for the first time - and get feedback from more experienced colleagues. In addition, the conference offers a chance for personal contact and networking, which can be crucial on finding a interesting and rewarding graduate position.

A konferenciára 95 résztvevő (90 személyes és 5 online) több mint 15 országból (pl. Brazília, Románia, Ecuador, Horvátország, USA, Törökország, stb.), több mint 25 különböző intézményből, egyetemekről állami-, és akadémiai kutatóintézetektől, vagy az ipari szférát képviselő cégektől érkezett. Összesen 50 előadás hangzott el közel 15 órányi tudományos tartalommal és 14 poszter került bemutatásra elektronikus formában e-poszter kivetítőkön, hogy ezzel is csökkentsük a rendezvény ökológiai lábnyomát. A konferencián elhangzott előadásokból egy 91 oldalas ISBN számmal ellátott absztraktkötet jelent meg a Szakosztály vezetőségének szerkesztésében és a Pécsi Akadémiai Bizottság kiadásában.
Röviden összefoglalva a tapasztalatokat, örvendetes, hogy rendkívül sok fiatal kutató, PhD és MSc hallgató vett részt a konferencián, hogy több országból sikerült résztvevőket megszólítani és magyar, illetve külföldi neves professzorokat felkérni plenáris és keynote előadások megtartására, és, hogy valós viták alakultak ki egy-egy előadást követően. Ezek együtt járultak hozzá, hogy a 2019-es eseményhez képest a színvonal növekedése minden visszajáró résztvevő szerint jelentősen növekedett. Szükséges megjegyezni, hogy a konferencián elhangzott előadásokból két peer-reviewed különszám jelenik majd meg az International Journal on Geomathematics (Springer) és Central European Geology c. Akadémiai Kiadó által gondozott tudományos folyóiratban.

The conference was attended by 95 participants (90 in person and 5 online) from more than 15 countries (e.g. Brazil, Romania, Ecuador, Croatia, USA, Turkey, etc.), from more than 25 different institutions, universities, public and academic research institutes, or companies representing the industrial sector. A total of 50 presentations were given, with nearly 15 hours of scientific content, and 14 posters were presented electronically on e-poster screens to reduce the ecological footprint of the event. A 91-page abstract book with ISBN number was published by the Section's management and published by the Pécs Academic Committee.
In short, it is gratifying that a large number of young researchers, PhD and MSc students participated in the conference, that participants from several countries were invited and that renowned Hungarian and foreign professors were invited to give plenary and keynote lectures, and that real discussions took place after each lecture. Together, these contributed to a significant increase in quality compared to the 2019 event, according to all returning participants. It is worth noting that two peer-reviewed special issues of the papers presented at the conference will be published in the International Journal on Geomathematics (Springer) and in Central European Geology published by the Akadémiai Kiadó.
