magyar összefoglaló
A projekt keretében támogatott nemzetközi tudományos/innovációs rendezvény bemutatása

A konferencia évről évre költségkímélő módon kerül megrendezésre, mely megteremti a szűkösebb anyagi forrásokból gazdálkodó kelet-közép európai országok kutatói számára is a minél nagyobb számban történő részvétel lehetőségét, különös tekintettel a fiatal kutatókra (PhD hallgatók, posztdoktorok), akik részvételi aránya várhatóan a konferencia résztvevőinek közel 50%-át teszik ki. Végül további célunk a Térség felzárkóztatása a nyugat-európai kutatói színvonalhoz és kutatóink becsatlakoztatása a kardiovaszkuláris elit kutatások vérkeringésébe.

A projekt összefoglalója, célkitűzései laikusok számára

Végül további célunk a Térség kutatóinak felzárkóztatása a nyugat-európai színvonalú kutatásokhoz.

angol összefoglaló
Presentation of the international scientific/innovation event supported in the project
Present the type, purpose, agenda, targeted audience, and significance of the international event organized in the international and domestic scientific community.

The International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences is a scientific society with decades of history, its main mission is to meet the challenges of basic cardiovascular research and clinical practice in a cooperative way for more advanced and efficient patient care. At the European Section Conference we intend to organize, we plan to create sessions presenting potential new solutions to the most pressing challenges in the field. Accordingly, the central themes of the event include: the latest achievements in cardioprotection against ischemic heart disease and heart failure, including research efforts involving modified stem cells and microRNAs; efforts to alleviate the aggravating circumstances of cardiovascular metabolic comorbidities, the causes and prevention of sudden cardiac death and severe arrhythmias affecting (also) elite athletes, and novel aspects of preclinical safety studies in drug development, the demonstration of the development of models for the detection of hidden cardiotoxicity.
One of the main goals of this conference is to create a forum for the Central and Eastern European elite of cardiovascular research to meet and exchange ideas with each other and with prestigious invited speakers from Western Europe and overseas (70% of the invited speakers), and to build new collaborations presenting their own results in the form of high-quality presentations. The conference is held annually in a cost-effective way, which provides the opportunity for researchers from Central and Eastern European countries with limited financial resources to participate in as high numbers as possible, especially young researchers (PhD students, postdoctoral fellows), who are expected to attend the conference (approximately 50% of participants). Finally, our further goal is to catch up with Western European standards and to integrate our researchers into the network of cardiovascular elite research.

Summary and aims of the project for a general audience
Provide a short, general introduction to the international event organized and its expected results.

The International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences is a scientific society with a history of several decades, its main mission is to coordinate the efforts to meet challenges of basic cardiovascular research and clinical practice in order to achieve more advanced and efficient cardiology patient care. At the European Section Conference we intend to organize, we plan to create sessions presenting potential new solutions to the most pressing challenges in the field. The central themes of the event are: the presentation of the latest developments in the protection against acute myocardial infarction and heart failure, including the most advanced research with stem cells and RNA therapies; demonstrating efforts to alleviate the aggravating circumstances of common cardiovascular comorbidities (e.g., obesity, diabetes, atherosclerosis, etc.); and the causes and prevention of sudden cardiac death and severe arrhythmias affecting (not only) elite athletes, as well as to show the progress in the development of animal models capable of detecting hidden, severe, or even fatal side effects of drugs. One of the main goals of this conference is to create a forum for the Central and Eastern European elite of cardiovascular researchers to meet each other and prestigious invited speakers from Western Europe and US/Canada, and to build new collaborations alongside high-quality presentations. The conference is organized annually in a cost-effective manner, which provides the opportunity for researchers from Central and Eastern European countries with limited financial resources to participate in as high numbers as possible, especially for young researchers (PhD students, postdoctoral fellows), who make up nearly half of the conference participants. Finally, our further goal is to help the researchers of the region to catch up with the research standards of Western Europe.

Az IACS több évtizedes múlttal rendelkező társaság, mely a kardiovaszkuláris alapkutatás és a klinikai gyakorlat kihívásait hangolja össze a fejlettebb kardiológiai betegellátás érdekében. A konferencián a tudományterület aktuális kihívásainak új megoldási lehetőségeit bemutató párhuzamosan zajló előadói szekciókat szerveztünk, összesen 21-et (szekciónként 4-6 előadással), ezt 2 poszter szekció egészítette ki, ahol 63 posztert mutattak be, a résztvevők száma 229 volt. Az európai szekció konferencián a Közép-Kelet Európai, kardiovaszkuláris területen dolgozó kutatóknak megteremtettük a fórumot, ahol egymással, illetve rangos nyugat-európai és tengerentúli meghívott előadókkal találkozhattak, valamint színvonalas előadások formájában saját eredményeiket bemutatva új kollaborációkat építettek ki. A rendezvény további célja volt a térség fiatal (PhD hallgatók, posztdoktorok) és szenior kutatóinak felzárkóztatása a nyugat-európai és amerikai tudományos kutatói színvonalhoz és kutatóink csatlakoztatása a kardiovaszkuláris elit kutatások vérkeringésébe. A legjobb fiatal kutatók mind az orális, mind a poszter szekciókban díjazásban részesültek (más forrásból), így további motivációt nyertek kutatásaik folytatására. Összesen, a 9 elnyerhető díjból 4 fiatal magyar kutató nyert díjat. A konferencián magyar, cseh, román, szlovák, boszniai, lengyel, szerb, kanadai, amerikai, argentin, német, francia, olasz, holland, dán, spanyol és osztrák kutatók adtak elő.
kutatási eredmények (angolul)
IACS has a decades-long history of bringing together basic cardiovascular research and clinical research to improve cardiology patient care. The conference featured concurrent lecture sessions presenting new solutions to current challenges in the field, 21 in total (with 4-6 presentations per session), complemented by 2 poster sessions where 63 posters were presented, with 229 participants. The European Section conference provided a forum for researchers from Central and Eastern Europe working in the cardiovascular field to meet each other and distinguished invited speakers from Western Europe and overseas, and to build new collaborations by presenting their own results in high quality lectures. The event also aimed to bring the region's young (PhD students, postdocs) and senior researchers up to the level of Western European and American academics and to connect our researchers to the elite cardiovascular research community. The best young researchers in both the oral and poster sessions received prizes (from other sources), providing them with additional motivation to continue their research. In total, 4 young Hungarian researchers were awarded out of the 9 prizes available. Participants arrived from Hungary, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Bosnia, Poland, Serbia, Canada, USA, Argentina, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Denmark, Spain and Austria.
