A projekt keretében látogatni tervezett nemzetközi tudományos/innovációs rendezvény bemutatása és a tervezett részvétel ismertetése Mutassa be a nemzetközi rendezvény jellegét, célját, szervezőit és jelentőségét a nemzetközi tudományos életben. Ismertesse a részvétel célját (pl. előadás, poszter, egyéb aktivitás), a rendezvényen való részvétel várható hatását és jelentőségét a saját kutatói karrier építésében. A 22. Talajtani Világkongresszust (22nd World Congress of Soil Science - WCSS) a Nemzetközi Talajtani Unió megbízásából a Brit Talajtani Társaság szervezi az Egyesült Királyságban, Glasgowban. A WCSS a világ vezető talajtani témájú, négy évente megrendezésre kerülő tudományos konferencia, melyen minden alkalommal több mint 3000, a világ minden részéről érkező szakember vesz részt. A WCSS fő témája („Határokon átívelő, társadalmakat formáló talajtan”) a talajok és a társadalmak közötti kapcsolatrendszerre koncentrál. A kongresszus a talaj komplex rendszerét, talajfolyamatokat, talajhasználatot és mindezek antropogén tevékenységekkel való kölcsönhatását központba állító tudományos szekciókból áll. A WCSS egyik fő eleme, a szintén 4 évente megrendezésre kerülő Talajszelvény Leíró Verseny. A rendezvény lehetőséget kínál a versenyzők (a világ minden részéről érkező egyetemi hallgatók) számára talajtani tudásuk megmérettetésére talajszelvények leírásán, értékelésén és osztályozásán keresztül. A kongresszuson való részvétel egyik fő célja a talajtérképezési és talajspektroszkópiai alapokra építő, a Nemzeti Talajspektrális Könyvtár létrehozását célzó kutatásaink prezentálása, szóbeli előadás keretében. Ennek a témának a bemutatása lehetőséget kínál ezen tudományterület szakértőivel való együttműködés létrehozására. A kongresszuson való részvétel további lehetőséget kínál a jelenleg futó nemzetközi kutatási projektjeink tagjaival való kapcsolatunk megerősítésére, valamint további konzorciumok létrehozására. A részvétel további célja a Talajszelvényleíró Verseny szervezésében, lebonyolításban való személyes részvétel. A részvételemet indokolja a 2014-ben Dél Koreában, 2018-ban Brazíliában szervezett Nemzetközi Talajszelvény Leíró Versenyben először versenyzőként, később szervezőbizottsági tagként, valamint a 2015-ben Magyarországon rendezett Nemzetközi Kurzus és Talajszelvény Leíró Verseny szervezőbizottságának titkáraként szerzett tapasztalatom.

Presentation of the international scientific/innovation event to be visited in the project and description of the proposed participation Present the type, purpose, organizers, and significance of the international event in the scientific community. Present the purpose of the participation (e.g., paper, poster, other activity), the expected impact of the participation in the event and its significance in building your own research career. The 22nd World Congress of Soil Science (WCSS) is being organized by the British Society of Soil Science on behalf of the International Union of Soil Science. The conference will take place in Glasgow, United Kingdom. The WCSS is the leading international soil science conference, held in every 4 years in different countries attended by over 3000 soil scientists from around the globe. The theme of the WCSS (Soil Science – crossing boundaries, changing society) focuses on the link between soil and society, with sessions covering soil systems, soil processes, soil management and how the humanity interacts with and use soils around the word. As a key part of the WCSS the quadrennial Soil Judging Competition will also be organized. The event is an opportunity for competitors (students representing countries around the globe) demonstrate their soil description, evaluation, and classification skills. The first objective of the congress attendance is to give an oral presentation to introduce our research topics covering the scientific fields of soil mapping, soil spectroscopy and the development of the Hungarian Soil Spectral Library. The introduction of these topics would open opportunities for future collaboration with experts of this scientific area. The strengthening of the collaboration with participants of our ongoing international research projects, and the establishment of new consortia will also be ensured by my attendance at the congress. The second objective of the project is the personal participation in the organization of the Soil Judging Competition as an organizer. The participation is justified by my experiences acquired by the attendance at the International Soil Judging Contest (South Korea, 2014) as contestant, participation in the organization of the International Field Course and Soil Judging Contest (Hungary, 2015) as the secretary of the event, and participation in the International Soil Judging Contest (Brazil, 2018) as organizer.
Summary and aims of the project for a general audience Provide a short, general introduction to the international event to be visited, the purpose of the participation, and its expected results. The Word Congress of Soil Science (WCSS) is the leading international soil science conference organized in every 4 years and attended by soil scientists from around the globe. In 2022, the 22nd WCSS will take place in Glasgow, United Kingdom organized by the British Society of Soil Science. The theme of the congress (Soil science – crossing borders, changing society) focuses on the link between soil and society, with sessions covering topics of soil systems, soil processes, soil management and how humanity interacts with and use soil around the world. At the congress an oral presentation will be given on the topics covering the most recent research outputs of the scientific team of the Department of Soil Science. These topics include research on the application possibilities of the integration of modern soil analytical tools in the everyday practice of soil observation, using remote sensing technologies for aiding soil mapping, and development of soil databases to enhance our knowledge on the spatial distribution of soil types and on to monitor changes in the properties. The introduction of these ongoing projects opens opportunities for future collaboration with soil science experts, builds the foundation of possible future projects. One of the most important events of the pre-congress activities is the Soil Judging Competition. My participation as field organizer is justified by my experiences acquired by the attendance at the 1st International Soil Judging Contest (South Korea, 2014) as contestant, participation in the organization of the International Field Course and Soil Judging Contest (Hungary, 2015) as the secretary of the event, and participation in the 3rd International Soil Judging Contest (Brazil, 2018) as organizer.

A projekt célja a Nemzetközi Talajtani Unió megbízásából a Brit Talajtani Társaság által szervezett 22. Talajtani Világkongresszuson (TTV) (Glasgow, Egyesült Királyság) való részvétel, illetve a kongresszust közvetlenül megelőző Talajszelvény Leíró Verseny (TLV) szervezésében, lebonyolításában való személyes részvétel volt. A nemzetközi rendezvény első három napjának délelőttjén tantermi oktatás keretében a verseny koncepciója és a sikeres szerepléshez elengedhetetlen talajtani ismeretek kerültek bemutatásra a részvevők számára. Délutánonként terepi gyakorlat keretében kerültek bemutatásra a verseny lebonyolításának szabályai és a versenyzés folyamata. A teljes negyedik napon a verseny "főprobája" zajlott, melyet maga a verseny követett az ötödik napon. Szervezőbizottsági tagként nemzetközi talajtani szakemberekkel együtt tartottam tantermi előadásokat, ismertettem a talajszelvény leíró lapok felépítését és kitöltésük helyes módját. A terepi gyakorlatok során folyamatosan konzultáltam a részvevőkkel. A verseny során folyamatosan monitoroztam ezen fő esemény szabályoknak megfelelő lebonyolítását. A kongresszuson való részvételem fő célja a talajspektroszkópiai alapokra építő Nemzeti Talajspektrális Könyvtár létrehozását célzó kutatásaink prezentálása szóbeli előadás keretében. Az előadásomat követő, a nemztközi kutatói közösség tagjaival folytatott megbeszélések lehetőséget teremtettek új szakmai kapcsolatok létrehozására.

The aim of the project was participation in the 22nd World Congress of Soil Science (WCSS) (Glasgow, UK) organized by the British Society of Soil Science on behalf of the International Union of Soil Science. Furthermore, personal participation in the organization of the Soil Judging Competition (SJC) preceding the congress was also objective. On the first three days of this international event, the concept of the competition and pedological knowledge necessary for successful completion was introduced in the course of morning indoor training sessions. During the afternoon, the rules of the competition were introduced in the course of outdoor training sessions. On the fourth day the "rehearsal" of the competition, while on the fifth day the competition itself. As a member of the organizing committee, in cooperation with international experts, I held indoor training on the structure and correct completion of the soil description sheets. During outdoor training, I supported the competing teams and individuals. During the competition, I monitored the correct transaction of this major event. The major aim of my attendance at the WCSS was to give an oral presentation that introduces our research topics covering the scientific field of soil spectroscopy and the development of the Hungarian Soil Spectral Library. The conversations following my presentation provided opportunities to strengthen the already established international collaborations and opened up the option of establishing new ones.
