magyar összefoglaló
A tervezett projekt keretében termoanalitikai kutatásokat végzünk olyan rendszereken amelyek környezetvédelmi szempontból kiemelten fontosak. A hulladékok közül a műanyagok, valamint a mezőgazdasági hulladékok hasznosításának aktuális problémáival foglalkozunk. Olyan összetett rendszerek hőbomlását vizsgáljuk szisztematikusan inert atmoszférában, amelyek többféle polimert és adalékanyagot tartalmaznak, tehát összetételük a háztartási hulladékokéhoz hasonló. Különös figyelmet fordítunk a halogének reakcióira. A mezőgazdasági hulladékok közül az impregnálószereket tartalmazó hulladék fák pirolitikus lebontását és a nehézfémek sorsát vizsgáljuk. Ezenkívül egyéb nagy mennyiségben jelenlevő hulladék (pl. szalma, fakéreg) pirolitikus átalakításának reakcióit tanulmányozzuk. A papírgyártás alapanyagának, a rostpépnek a fehérítésére folyó enzimes kísérletekben veszünk részt, amely a környezetszennyező klóros fehérítést hivatott helyettesíteni. Ennek során pirolízises módszerrel meghatározzuk a maradék lignin mennyiségét, valamint a lignin átalakulási reakcióit a fehérítés folyamán.
A kutatások alapkutatás jellegűek, tehát a termikus reakciók mechanizmusát, és a termékeloszlást határozzuk meg, valamint vizsgáljuk a különböző paraméterek hatását a hőbomlási reakciók mechanizmusára. A kísérleteket termogravimetria-tömegspektrometria, pirolízis-gázkromatográfia-tömegspektrometria alkalmazásával és csőkemencés pirolízissel végezzük. Ezenkívül klasszikus analitikai meghatározásokat végzünk, amelyekkel a termikus vizsgálatok eredményeit összevetjük.
angol összefoglaló
In this project we apply thermal analysis for studying macromolecular systems that are important for environmental reasons. Our research is related to the current problems of plastics recycling and the utilization of agricultural waste. We study the thermal decomposition of complex mixtures of various polymers and additives having similar composition as the communal waste. We pay special attention to the reactions of the halogen components of the plastics. We study the thermal reactions of impregnated waste wood and the behavior of the heavy metals. In addition, we study the pyrolytic reactions of some agricultural waste (e.g., straw, bark). We participate in the research on the biobleaching of pulp (raw material of papermaking). The goal of these experiments is to replace the widely applied bleaching sequences based on chlorine with an environmental friendly method. We determine the residual lignin content of the pulps by pyrolysis-gas chromatography and we study the modification of the lignin structure during bleaching.
We carry out basic research by studying the mechanisms and the product distributions of the thermal reactions. Furthermore, we study the effect of various parameters on the mechanism of the thermal decomposition reactions. The experiments will be carried out by thermogravimetry/mass spectrometry, pyrolysis-gas chromatography/ mass spectrometry and furnace pyrolysis. We will compare our results with the data of classical analytical methods.

This project has been related to the pyrolytic recycling of plastics and to the thermal utilization and analysis of biomass materials. Two technical polimers, high-impact polystyrene and polycarbonate have been studied and the brominated compounds have been identified among the pyrolysis products. We established that ammonia can be applied for trapping the bromine content because the ammonium-bromide powder formed can be easily separated from the other products. We demonstrated that both the synergyst Sb2O3 and the flame-retardant ammoniumpolyphosphate (APP) enhance the charring reactions during pyrolysis. We concluded that APP releases NH3 and the residual polyphosphoric acid modifies the decomposition mechanism of polymers, which was proved by the addition of pure polyphosphoric acid. Studying the pulps bleached by environmental friendly enzymatic process we determined the residual lignin content (<1%) by in-situ pyrolysis-GC/MS. We established that chemical reactions occurred in the functional groups of lignins during enzymatic biobleaching and pulping, which renders the further lignin elimination (bleaching) more difficult. We carried out experiments for the thermal utilization of various agricultural products and waste materials. We clarified the effect of various inorganic compounds and extractives on the thermal decomposition. We obtained correlations between the decomposition parameters and the alkali ion content.
