A lelőhely nemzetközi jelentőségét mutatja, hogy a most készülő Világörökség pályázatban szerepel. A főbb ásatási eredmények rövid közlésére több fórumun is sor került, továbbá két PhD disszertáció témája is.

The beginning of Aquincum, capital of the Roman province and changes
in the settlement structure in Viziváros

Research located already a long time ago the earliest fort of Aquincum at the area of Viziváros. In this site there were carried out until 1991 just a few rescue excavations and just a modest archaeological material has been published. In course of the excavations carried out by K. Kérdő between 1991 and 2003 traces of the fort and its vicus of the lst century AD, as well ruins of a settlement of the 2-3rd c. of more construction periods came to light. To the international significance of the site gives evidence the fact, that it is part of the project World Heritage. The features of the fort and settlement have been published in preliminary reports; the main results of the explorations are prepared in two PhD dissertation. Our project contains the topographical, stratigraphic and chronological analysis of the excavations. Because of the small number of the coins increase the significance of well dated pottery (samian ware, amphorae, fine ware) and outstandig metal finds (brooches, harnesses, militaria). In order to identify the production centres is indispensable in certain case the neutron activation analysis. Aim of our project is preparing a monographie and to publish the most important finds.

Ezekben a szállítőedényekben északitáliai vagy aegeikumi bort, isztriai olivaolajat, ibériai hal alapanyagú készítményeket ill. itáliai olivabogyót szállítottak a hadsereg tisztjeinek ellátása céljából. Néhány amphoratípust sigillaták segítségével lehetett keltezni. 120 terra sigillata mintát vizsgáltattunk a BME Nukleáris Technikai Intézetében.
Our aim was to prepare for publication the documentation and selected finds of excavations on 17 sites, conducted by K. Kérdő in Viziváros between 1991 and 2003. The drawings and geodetical surveys of documentation has been digitalised (200 items) and the vectorisation of 117 items has been made. In the earliest ala fort and vicus in Aquincum 1185 samian wares have been identified and described in a datebase. Drawings ready for publication have been made of 980 sherds of samian and a few bronze objects. The majority of the terra sigillata is North Italian or South Gaulish pottery; the fort had been built around AD 50. The garrison was withdrawn around 120, that is why the quantity of the imported pottery decreased from the Hadrianic time. A settlement was established in the place of the fort keeping the structure of the earlier fort, which survived until the first half of the 4th century. We have found 105 fragments of Roman amphorae belonging to 17 different types. In these vessels wine from North Italy and Asia Minor, olive oil from the Istrian Peninsula, fish based products from the Iberian Peninsula as well olives from Italy had been transported provisioning the Roman army. 120 items of terra sigillata were analysed by NAA in Institute for Nuclear Technology of BME. On base of these analysis four groups of Italian tera sigillata and several workshops of South Gaulish pottery have been identified. Eight papers have been written on this topic.
