magyar összefoglaló
A pályázat elsődleges célja korrelációs függvények vizsgálata integrálható térelméletekben, mind zérus, mind pedig véges hőmérsékleten, perem jelenlétében és anélkül. Az alapozásként kitűzött elméleti célok elérése után a kondenzált anyagok elmélete, illetve a kvantumtérelmélet területén tervezzük alkalmazni eredményeinket.

Az alkalmazott megközelítés a form faktor bootstrap és a véges méret effektusok kombinációján alapul. Az elméleti alapozás fő céljai: a peremes form faktor bootstrap továbbfejlesztése (operátorok azonosítása, ultraibolya határeset és konform operátorszorzat kifejtés megfeleltetése, kiterjesztés tömegrés nélküli elméletekre), valamint módszer kidolgozása véges hőmérsékletű korrelátorok bulk és (az előzőekben leírt eredményekre alapozva) peremes elméletekben. A tervezett alkalmazások elsősorban a véges hőmérsékletű korrelátorok kiszámítását követelik meg: egyik ilyen cél szuszceptibilitások, illetve transzportot jellemző mennyiségek számítása kondenzált anyagok modelljeiben (pl. spinláncok, 1d Mott szigetelők, karbon nanocsövek). A másik alapvető irány a peremes (illetve defekt) renormálási csoport folyamok vizsgálata, ahol a centrális elméleti cél a peremes entrópia függvény spektrális kifejtése. A peremes esetre vonatkozó eredmények fő alkalmazási területeként a szennyezőkkel kapcsolatos problémákat célozzuk meg. Ezenkívül felmerülnek alkalmazási lehetőségek a húrelmélet nemperturbatív fizikájában (D-bránok).

A véges méret effektusok fenti vizsgálatának egyik várható folyománya a rugalmatlan folyamatok hatásának megértése a véges térfogat spektrumra, ennek kapcsán a véges méret korrekciók leírásának kiterjesztése nemintegrálható modellekben a rugalmatlan küszöb feletti tartományra, aminek potenciális alkalmazása elsősorban a rácstérelméleti számításokban jelentkezik: egy új eszközt kaphatunk fontos térelméleti információk kinyerésére a Monte-Carlo szimulációk adataiból.
angol összefoglaló
The primary goal of the proposal is the study of correlation functions in integrable quantum field theories, both at zero and finite temperature, with and without boundary. After attaining the initial theoretical goals we are planning applications in condensed matter theory and quantum field theory.

The approach is based on combining the form factor bootstrap and finite size effects. The main theoretical goals are: further development of the boundary form factor bootstrap (operator identification, correspondence between the ultraviolet limit and the conformal operator product expansion, extension to theories without mass gap). The intended applications, such as calculations of susceptibilities and transport characteristics in condensed matter systems (e.g. spin chains, 1D Mott insulators, carbon nanotubes), demand the computation of finite temperature correlators. Another main direction is the problem of boundary (and defect) renormalization group flows, where the central theoretical goal is to develop a spectral expansion for the boundary entropy function. The main potential applications of the boundary developments are problems related to impurities. There are also possible applications to nonperturbative string theory (D-branes)

An expected outcome of the studies directed on finite size effects is the understanding of the effect of inelastic processes on finite volume spectra, and the extension of the description of finite size corrections to nonintegrable quantum field theories over the inelastic threshold. The potential applications of these results are primarily related to lattice quantum field theory: they could provide a new tool to extract important field theoretical information from the Monte-Carlo simulation data.

kutatási eredmények (magyarul)
Nemintegrálható modellek: szisztematikus elméleti keretet adtunk nemintegrálható modellek effektív potenciáljának és szoliton spektrumának kvalitatív leírására. Ezen felül sikerült az ún. form faktor perturbációszámítást magasabb rendekre kiterjeszteni, a véges térfogatú FF formalizmus segítségével. Véges térfogatú form faktorok: a formalizmust kiterjesztettük általános (nemdiagonális szórású) integrálható modellekre.
Nonintegrable theory: we developed a systematic framework for a qualitative description of the effective potentials and soliton spectra in nonintegrable modells. Using the finite volume FF formalism, we extended the form factor perturbation theory to higher orders. Finite volume form factors: the formalism has been extended to general integrable models with nondiagonal scattering. We described the leading exponential corrections, and demonstrated its effect on numerical determination of matrix elements. We gave a systematic method to determine the position dependence of the expectation value of local operators using the finite volume form factor formalism. Boundary form factors: we determined the breather form factors in the boundary sine-Gordon modell, and numerically verified the bootstrap predictions. Thermal correlators: we constructed the systematic expansion, that was the central aim of the project, and verified it using partly numerical, partly analytic methods. Boundary entropy: following a line different from the original plan, we gave an effective method for its evaluation, in addition, this method also works for the excited states. Using the TBA method, the Leclair-Bassi S matrix conjecture for the OSp(2|2) Gross-Neveu model was verified, and a duality with the SO(4) model found. It was also shown, that the S matrix proposed for the random bond Ising modell by Cabra et al. cannot be correct.
