(3) A hosszmetszeti adatok alapján a diákok nyelvtanulási tapasztalata lineárisan változott, amíg a tanulók énhatékonysága négyzetes módon erősödött; a negatív érzelmek fluktuációit azonban inkább a nemlinearitás jellemezte. (5) Az óramegfigyelés eredményei alapján a megfigyelt órákon a pedagógiai megközelítést néhány kivételtől eltekintve inkább a nyelvtan-központú oktatás dominálta a jelentésalapú tanítással szemben,.
In our study, which aimed to reveal findings that might contribute to improving the quality of language teaching in Hungarian schools, we explored the most important individual difference variables related to language learning among high school students and teachers' opinions on these and the language teaching process. In the course of the project, (1) we developed several instruments: student questionnaires, a teacher interview guide, and a lesson observation grid. (2) We revealed that there are complex, dynamic relationships between the individual variables investigated and also between students and teachers. (3) The longitudinal data suggest that students' language learning experiences varied linearly, while students' self-efficacy increased quadratically; however, fluctuations in negative emotions tended to be characterized by nonlinearity. (4) The analysis of the language tasks found relationships between students' self-reported emotions, self-efficacy beliefs and their engagement and some output measures of the texts produced. (5) The results of the lesson observations suggested that, with some exceptions, the pedagogical approach in the observed lessons was mostly dominated by form-focused rather than meaning-focused instruction. The above findings and their implications can be utilized in the field of English language teaching and teacher training, provide important insights for the study of individual variables, and support the usefulness of our innovative approach.
