A gyulladásos bélbetegségek (IBD-CB: Crohn-betegség, CU: colitis ulcerosa) pontos etiológiája még mindig ismeretlen. Az utóbbi években nagy érdeklődés övezi azokat az alternatív kezeléseket, amelyek a bélmikrobióta összetételének módosítását célozzák. Ennek kapcsán felmerült a széklet-mikrobióta transzplantáció (FMT) esetleges alkalmazása az IBD kezelésében, amelynek célja a normális bélmikrobióta helyreállítása egészséges személyek szűrt és hígított székletének bélbe juttatásával. A projekt során jelentős eredményeket sikerült elérnünk, melyek segítik a széklet mikrobiom szerepének megértését IBD-ben. Több eredményünk, pl. a bélelőkészítés hatása a széklet mikrobiom összetételére, jelentős gyakorlati haszonnal is bír, hiszen a változások ismeretében lehetővé válik a komplikációk megelőzése a napi betegellátási gyakorlatban. Emellett jelentős előrelépéseket sikerült elérnünk az FMT hazai alkalmazásával kapcsolatban, továbbá a metodika beállításra került és a gyűjtött minták révén rendelkezésre álló pool további vizsgálatokhoz nyújt majd alapot.

The exact aetiology of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD-CD: Crohn's disease, UC: ulcerative colitis) is still unknown. In recent years, there has been great interest in alternative treatments that aim to modify the composition of the gut microbiota. In this context, the potential use of faecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) in the treatment of IBD has been raised, aiming at restoring the normal gut microbiota by introducing filtered and diluted faeces from healthy individuals into the gut. The project has provide significant results that help to understand the role of the faecal microbiome in IBD. Several of our results, such as the effect of bowel preparation on the composition of the gut microbiome, have significant practical benefits, as knowledge of these changes will allow the prevention of complications in daily patient care practice. In addition, significant progress has been made in clinical indications of FMT, and the methodology has been adjusted ,in addition, the available pool through the samples collection will provide a basis for further studies.
