Final report

A Szigetközben egyenetlenül eloszló, a Mosoni-síkságon pedig majdnem teljesen hiányozó talaj feltárásokat saját fúrásokkal kiegészítve összesen több, mint 2000 talajszelvény 150 cm mélységig terjedő vizsgálatának adatsorait tekintettük át. A digitalizált pontokból térinformatikai szoftver segítségével, Thiessen poligonok képzése útján állítottuk elő a folthatárokat. Környezetvédelmi szempontokat is figyelembe véve, jelenlegi helyzetükben hagyásukat tartjuk célszerűnek. Az elvégzett radiokarbon meghatározások alapján megállapítható, hogy az eltemetett rétegek keletkezése a különböző helyszíneken 3-4 ezer éves időszakot fog át, a legrégebbi ilyen rétegek 4-5 ezer évesek lehetnek. Megállapítottuk, hogy az eltemetett humuszos rétegű foltok a Szigetköz mintegy 20%-át fedik le a korábban becsült 3-4%-al szemben. A Mosoni-síkságon Bezenyétől Kimléig a Mosoni-Duna mentén alkotnak majdnem teljesen összefüggő sávot. Kimlétől Öttevényig ez a sáv félkörívben egészen Lébényig, a Rábca hordalékkúpjáig jut el, megkerülve a Mecsér alatt lévő nagy pleisztocén eredetű foltot.

Soil profile investigations, until now unevenly distributed in Szigetköz area and almost lacking through Moson plain were complemented so that finally we could review data of more then 2000 points until the dept of 150 cm. From digitized point data, spot boundaries of soils with buried humus layer were generated with Thiessen polygon module of a GIS software. Investigations of the properties of buried humus layers of soils have revealed that these layers are located deeply under the surface, that their humus content usually does not exceeds the value typical for the plough layer, that they are lack of soluble phosphorus, are biologically inactive and their trace element content resembles properties of meadow soils. Taking into account some environmental protection considerations, we suggest that these layers should be left intact at their original position. Radiocarbon analyses indicate that formation of buried humus layers at different locations lasted for 3-4 thousand years in the past, and the age of the oldest layers of that kind in the region can be 4-5 thousand years. We have found that soils with buried humus layer occupy at least 20% of the Szigetköz region where the original estimate was only 3-4%. These soils form an almost continuous belt alongside the Moson-Danube arm on the Moson plain between Bezenye and Kimle. Between Kimle and Öttevény the belt moves away from the Moson-Danube arm, approaching Lébény and the drift of the Rábca river.
