The problem of defining a coordinate of internal rotation and that of calculating the variation of vibrational frequencies of small amplitude vibrations with respect to this coordinate have been solved. Numerical methods based on discrete variable and generalized finite basis representations (DVR and FBR) have been developed for calculating rovibrational energy levels of triatomic molecules. It has been shown that accurate calculation of high-lying rovibrational levels of H3+ requires proper treatment of singularities present in the kinetic energy operator. It has been pointed out that theoretical calculations of rotational constants must employ a Hamiltonian obeying the Casimir condition. The fundamental vibrational frequencies and the rotational states with J=1-7 of the ground vibrational state of the lowest triplet state of CH2 have been calculated by various theoretical methods. It has been demonstrated on the example of the water molecule that the equilibrium structures of polyatomic molecules can be determined by means of theoretical methods describing the motions of electrons and nuclei with higher precision than by employing any known method relying on experimental data. A fast method has been developed for evaluating FBRs of a Hamiltonian operator in spherical harmonic-like basis sets. The optimal generalized FBR method has been shown to give results of orders of magnitude higher accuracy than a variational calculation carried out with the same truncated basis.
