Végezetül vizsgáltuk a rezonáns exobolygó-rendszerek kialakulását is. Ezek olyan óriásbolygókat tartalmaznak, melyek átlagos keringési periódusa kis pozitív egész számok hányadosaként fejezhető ki. Vizsgálataink a bolygórendszerek keletkezésének igen fontos részleteire világítottak rá.
kutatási eredmények (angolul)
During my investigations I studied the dynamical properties of the extrasolar planets and different aspects of their formation mechanism. In a strong collaboration between the Departments of Astronomy of the Eötvös University and University of Vienna, we developed a unique and very detailed stability catalogue of the Earth-like exoplanets (http://astro.elte.hu/exocatalogue). By using this catalogue, it can be determined easily what regions of the exo-systems with one giant planet can harbor yet non-discovered terrestrial planets. Since the discovery of the first few Earth-like planets is expected in the near future, we hope that our catalogue will be used extensively. Connected to the future observations of the terrestrial planets, we also developed a method for constraining the orbital parameters of the Earth-like planets orbiting in systems having known giant planets. Using both theoretical and numerical investigations, we studied the stability and possibly formation scenarios of the co-orbital terrestrial planets. We note that co-orbital planets share nearly identical orbits, the best known analogy in the Solar System are Jupiter's Trojan asteroids. Finally, we studied the formation of the resonant planetary systems. These contain pairs of giant planets having mean orbital period that ratio can be expressed by means of small positive integers. Our investigations revealed very important details of the formation of planetary sytems.
