A vízállás alapján megállapított korok jó egyezést mutattak a radiometrikus módszerrel kapott adatokkal.
Between 2004 and 2009 a paleolimnological research of the sediment in the Zalavári Pond in Kis-Balaton wetland, in Lake Balaton (Siófok and Keszthely basin) and in two oxbow lakes of the Tisza river took place. We concluded that the persence of cladoceran is very similar in the sediment and water body. In fact, the presents of well chitinised species in sediment tend to be notable than in the water body. The remains of weakly chitinised species were not found. On one hand the recent fauna is richer in terms of overall quantity of species, on the other hand the species diversity is more significant in the sediment. Beside intensive sampling protocol we must analyse the sediment to find correct faunistical record. The signs of flood events can be well determined in the cores from the oxbow lakes. Ages determined by records of heavy floods show significant similarity with the radiometric data. The sedimentation in oxbow lakes of the Tisza river was much faster (5.68 cm/year) prior to the flood defence contructions (1876-1919) than after (1.44 cm/year). Analysis of the sediment profile from Zalavári Pond in Kis-Balaton wetland, we concluded that the highest water level in Lake Balaton was between 8600 cal. BP and 5000 cal. BP but much lower water level reconstructed before 8600 cal. BP and after 5000 cal. BP. We also found, the remains of cladoceran from Keszthely and Siofok basin were not adequate for reconstructing water level changes.
