magyar összefoglaló
A külső naprendszer kutatására benyújtott pályázatunk fő témái:
- a Cassini szonda Szaturnusz környezetében mért eredményeinek értelmezése
- a napszél szerkezetének változásai a háromdimenziós helioszférában
- nagyenergiájú részecskék vizsgálata a napciklus és a Naptól mért távolság függvényében.

A Cassini és Ulysses szondák adatait együttműködés keretében megkapjuk.
Legfontosabb feladatunk a Cassini szonda adatainak értelmezése a következő témakörökben:
- a napszél kölcsönhatása a Szaturnusz magnetoszférájával
- a Titán plazmakörnyezete a Szaturnusz rendszerben
- a Szaturnusz E gyűrűjének környezeti kölcsönhatásai.
Mindhárom témát nemzetközi együttműködésben tanulmányozzuk. Mivel hasonló mérési adatok még nincsenek, fontos felfedezések várhatók.

A napszél turbulenciájának tanulmányozásával korábbi vizsgálatainkat folytatjuk. Több alapvető kérdés vár még válaszra mind a turbulencia statisztikai leírásával, mind a nagyenergiájú részecskék terjedésével kapcsolatban.

A naprendszerben észlelhető nagyenergiájú részecskék fluxusa függ a naptevékenység mellett a Naptól mért távolságtól is. A részecskefluxusok jellemzőit az ACE és Ulysses szondák adatai alapján alacsony és magas heliografikus szélességeken is vizsgáljuk. Különös figyelmet szentelünk a napfoltminimumkor (2006-07) várható rendkívül alacsony fluxusoknak. Részeletesen tanulmányozni fogjuk a Voyager-1 szonda méréseit a szuperszonikus és szubszonikus napszelet elválasztó lökéshullám környezetében.
angol összefoglaló
The in situ study of the outer solar system proposed here concentrates on three main topics:
- interpretation of Cassini results in the Saturn system
- the change of solar wind structure in the three dimensional heliosphere
- energetic particle properties as a function of solar activity and solar distance

We are in a favoured position of having legal access to Cassini and Ulysses data.
The interpretation of Cassini data is the most important task of our project, and extends to three main topics:
- study of the interaction of the solar wind with Saturn’s magnetosphere
- Titan’s plasma environment embedded in the Saturnian system
- interaction of Saturn’s E-ring with its environment
All Cassini topics are studied in international collaboration. As no comparable data are available, important new discoveries are expected.

The topic on solar wind turbulence is a continuation of our earlier research, and we intend to answer several basic questions related both to the statistical description of turbulence and to energetic particle propagation.

Energetic particle fluxes change both with the phase of the solar cycle and with position in the solar system. Properties of particle fluxes will be examined both at low and high heliospheric latitudes using ACE and Ulysses data. Special attention will be given to low fluxes measurable at solar activity minimum (2006-07), and also to data of Voyager-1, indicating transition through a giant shock separating supersonic and subsonic solar wind regions.

A nemzetközi együttműködésben végzett kutatások föbb eredményei, köztük új jelenségek felfedezése és leírása, modellezéssel végzett számítások végzése, statisztikus vizsgálatok közül a következőket tekintjük jelentősnek: - Lassú módusú lökéshullám felfedezése a Jupiter mágneses köpenyében - „Hot Flow” anomália felfedezése a Szaturnusz fejhulláma előtt - Új típusú hullám-gerjesztés modellezése a Titán és Vénusz ionoszférájában - Titán plazmakörnyezetének összehasonlító vizsgálata a megközelítések során - Szaturnusz eredetű, „fosszilis” mágneses tér felfedezése a Titán közelében - Enceladusból származó por dinamikájának és az E gyűrű keletkezésének modellezése - Jupiter halvány gyűrűjének modellezése - MHD szakadási felületek gyakoriságának és geometriájának statisztikus vizsgálata a helioszférában - A helioszféra kétféle mágneses polaritását elválasztó áramlepel észak-déli aszimmetriája - Energikus részecskék terjedésének vizsgálata nagyszámú esemény alapján.
kutatási eredmények (angolul)
The distant regions of the heliosphere was investigated by the analysis of the data of magnetometers, plasma detectors, and energetic particle flux detectors, flown onboard the space probes Cassini, Ulysses, and Voyager 1-2. We acquired the scientific data as co-investigators and guest-investigators of the measurements. Among the main results of the research carried out in international collaborations, including discoveries and descriptions of new phenonmena, model calculations, statistical studies, we consider the most important ones as the following: - Discovery of slow mode shock in the Jovian magnetosheath - Discovery of hot flow anomaly upstream of the bow shock of Saturn - Modelling new type of wave excitation in the ionosphere of Titan and Venus - Comparative studies of the plasma environment of Titan during the encounters - Discovery of fossil magnetic field near Titan, originating from Saturn - Study of the dynamics of dust, originating from Enceladus and modelling the origin of E-ring - Modelling the faint ring of Jupiter - Statistical investigation of the rate and geometrical properties of MHD discontinuities in the heliosphere - North-south asymmetry of the current sheet separating the opposite magnetic polarities of the heliosphere - Investigation of the propagation of energetic particles, based on large number of events.
