Summary in Hungarian
A pályázat fő céljai:
1. A jelentős filozófia kultúrákban már régóta létező filozófiatörténeti sorozatok meghonosításának kísérlete Magyarországon 8 filozófus (Pascal, Foucault, Merleau-Ponty, Schelling, Hegel, Kierkegaard, Spengler, Jaspers) munkásságának monografikus feldolgozásával. Erre azért is van szükség, mert a honi kiadók inkább a fordításokat, illetve külföldi szerzők magyar nyelven való kiadását részesítik előnyben a hazai szerzők rovására.
2. A sorozat módot nyújt a szilárd szakmai alapokon álló hazai filozófiatörténetírás fejlesztésére. A kötetek bázisirodalomként szolgálhatnak a szűkebb szakmai, valamint a tágabb érdeklődő közönség számára. A sorozat egyik fő célja az, hogy a kiterjedt kutatómunkán alapuló szakmai hitelességet ötvözze a könnyen értetőséggel.
5. A kötetek lehetővé teszik a magyar filozófiai múnyelv továbbfejlesztését, egységes terminológia kialakítását stb.
Summary
The main purposes of the project are the following ones:
1. To foster the creation of a series of history of philosophy in Hungary which exists in the countries of highly developed philosophical culture for a long time, in the form of a monographical elaboration of the oeuvre of eight thinkers (Pascal, Foucault, Merleau-Ponty, Schelling, Hegel, Kierkegaard, Spengler, Jaspers). This endeavour is highly needed, because the Hungarian publishing houses rather prefer the translations and the publication of the works of foreign authors in Hungarian to the publication of monographies written by native authors.
2. The series gives a favourable opportunity to the development of home-made historiogaphy from philosophy. The volumes of the series can be conceived of as a kind of basic philosophical literature both for the professionals and for the wider public. One of the main targets of the series is to combine professional authenticity based on extensive research-work and fairly easy intelligibility.
3. The series makes possible that a philosophical workshop in Hungary should be appeared before the professional public with monographies which are original and of a high professional standard.
4. The single monographies of the series meet the demands of university teaching in an excellent manner because they combine scientific and educational standards.
5. The monographies of the series make possible the further development of Hungarian philosophical language, the unification of terminology etc.

Final report

Results in English
The result of the research-work is that the participants have published such a series of monographies which can be compared only with the Collection of Philosophical Writers. A monography has been published on such authors as Foucault, Spengler, Kierkegaard, Schelling and Hegel. The work on Merleau-Ponty and Pascal is to be published within a short time. Besides, there are several other publications as well in connection with the research-work and also a book which was not included in the original project: (Zoltán Gyenge: Zarathustra and Victor Eremita). The volume on Kierkegaard has won the Fitz Prize, the high-standard prize of the humanities which is, according to my knowledge, something unheard-of as far as philosophical works are concerned. In my opinion the publication of seven bulky monographies within four years speak for itself, not to mention the other publications. At the end of the research-work (during the spring of 2009) the presentation of the results has been realized as well, at the conference „Footnotes to Plato”.
