1. Nemlineáris dinamikai rendszerek numerikus vizsgálata:

a) Korábbi kutatásaink során a nemlineáris dinamikai rendszerek időfejlődésének numerikus vizsgálatára, a gömbszimmetrikus esetben, bizonyítottan jól működő eljárást dolgoztunk ki. Ennek egy szimmetriafeltételektől mentes, dinamikai folyamatok tanulmányozására alkalmas változatát kívánjuk kifejleszteni.
b) Különféle, a gravitáció és anyag csatolt nemlineáris rendszereinek, így például Einstein-Yang-Mills-Higgs rendszerek evolúciójának vizsgálata.

2. Különféle gravitációs hullámkeltési folyamatok vizsgálata:

a) Csillagok gravitációs összeomlási folyamatának, a kialakuló fekete lyukak dinamikai leírása, a Penrose-féle energiatermelési folyamat lehetséges általánosításainak felkutatása, az összeomlási folyamat során keltett gravitációs hullámok tulajdonságainak, valamint azok VIRGO által érzékelt alakjának meghatározása.
b) A standard kozmológiai modellekben az univerzum korai fázisában keltett gravitációs hullámformák vizsgálata, illetve annak tisztázása, hogy ezen hullámok VIRGO általi érzékelése milyen mérésgyakorlati és adatanalízisbeli problémákat vet fel.

3.Különféle csillagmodellek tanulmányozása az Einstein-féle gravitációelméletben:

a) Fizikailag reális állapotegyenletnek eleget tevő, forgó neutroncsillag modellek megkonstruálása.
b) Gömbszimmetrikus csillagmodellek tulajdonságainak vizsgálata a ma széles körben alkalmazott nem zérus kozmológiai állandójú univerzummodellek esetén.
c) Stacionáriusan forgó fekete lyuk, illetve csillagszerű megoldások létezésnek tisztázása az Einstein-Yang-Mills elméletben, továbbá amennyiben léteznek, maguknak a megoldásoknak a meghatározása.
Summary
In May 2006, the Gravitation Theory Group of RMKI is officially joining the VIRGO experiment (the largest interferometric detector in Europe), Pisa, Italy. From the Hungarian side the leader of this international collaboration is István Rácz, who is also the principal researcher of this OTKA proposal, moreover, each of the researchers and the students associated to this proposal are also involved in the VIRGO collaboration. Therefore, our planned investigations are strongly motivated by the tasks we have in this collaboration. In connection, as the natural continuation of our former research supported by OTKA, we are planning to carry out investigations of the following three main research areas:

1.Numerical investigation of non-linear dynamical systems:
a)We have developed a numerical method which is appropriate for the study of the evolution of spherical non-linear dynamical systems. Now it will be further developed in order to make it capable to investigate generic dynamical systems.
b)The study of various non-linear coupled gravity-matter configurations such as the evolution of Einstein-Yang-Mills-Higgs systems.

2.Gravitational wave production in various processes:
a)Descriptions of the gravitational collapses of stars, investigation of the properties of the yielded black holes, study of the Penrose process, moreover, the determination of the produced gravitational radiation and the form of the signal observed by the VIRGO detector.
b)The study of gravitational wave forms produced in the early universe, moreover, the clear up of the observational and data analysis problems specific for the VIRGO detector.

3.Investigations of star models:
a)The construction of rotating neutron star models
b)The study of spherically symmetric star models in cosmological models with non-zero cosmological constant.
c) Clear up of the existence of stationary rotating black hole or star-like solutions in Einstein-Yang-Mills theory.

Final report

Results in Hungarian
A kutatási terveinknek megfelelően az alábbi nyolc területen értünk el eredményeket: I. A nemlineáris gömbszimmetrikus dinamikai rendszerek időfejlődését hűen leíró numerikus eljárásunkat továbbfejlesztettük úgy, hogy mind az szimmetriafeltételektől mentes rendszerek leírására, mind pedig az „adaptív rácsfinomításos” technikai elemek alkalmazására képes legyen. A fejlesztésekkel párhuzamosan különféle általános relativisztikus dinamikai rendszer időfejlődését határoztuk meg. II. Feltártuk a gravitációs összeomlási folyamatok során kialakuló dinamikai feketelyuk-téridők topológiai tulajdonságait. III. A gravitáció geometrizált elméleteiben megadtuk a szinguláris téridők globális kiterjeszthetőségének szükséges feltételeit. IV. Fizikailag reális állapotegyenletű forgó neutroncsillag-modellek megkonstruálása. V. Gömbszimmetrikus csillagmodellek vizsgálata a nem zérus kozmológiai állandóval jellemzett univerzummodellek esetén. VI. Neutroncsillag-modellek stabilitásvizsgálata, valamint a gömbhéjakba tömörülő anyageloszlások általános dinamikájának leírása. VII. A deformált stacionárius feketelyuk-téridők általános leírása. VIII. Részvétel a Virgo tudományos együttműködés munkájában és a CBwaves nevű programcsomag kidolgozása és a LIGO-Virgo együttműködés által alkalmazott keresőalgoritmusokba történő integrálása. A pályázatban megjelölt feladatokhoz kapcsolódóan 14 elméleti témájú, és 23 kollaborációs, magas impaktfaktorú folyóiratcikkünk jelent meg.
Results in English
In accordance with our research proposal the new results belong to either of the following eight categories: I. Our numerical method capable to follow the time evolution of generic spherically symmetric dynamical systems was further developed such that both the symmetry assumptions were relaxed and the techniques of adaptive mesh refinements had been implemented. In parallel the developed code had been applied to study the evolution of various general relativistic dynamical systems. II. The topological properties of generic co-dimension two surfaces in black hole spacetime was determined. III. In metric theories of gravity the necessary conditions guaranteeing the global extendibility of singular spacetimes were given. IV. Neutron star models with physically reasonable equation of state were constructed. V. Spherically symmetric stars in models of the universe with non-zero cosmological constant were investigated. VI.The radial stability of neutron star models and the dynamics of matter distribution concentrated on spherical shells were determined. VII. A generic framework of deformed stationary black hole spacetimes was established. VIII. We joined to the Virgo scientific collaboration. The CBwaves software was developed and it was integrated it into various data analyzing algorithms of the LIGO-Virgo collaboration. In relation with the listed achievements 14 theoretical, and 23 experimental papers have been published in high impact scientific journals.
