Summary in Hungarian
A mikropórusos (pórusméret < 1nm) zeolitok régről ismertek, a rendezett mezopórusos ( ~ 5 nm) szilikátok csak mintegy 15 éve. A mikropórusos szerkezetek általában szigorúan kristályosak, a mezopórosos szilikátok fala inkább amorf, mint kristályos. Kémiai reakciókban történő alkalmazás (pl. katalizátorok) esetén a jobb stabilitás miatt előnyösebb a kristályos szerkezet, ugyanakkor a reagáló molekulák mérete miatt jobb a ~ 5 nm-es pórustartomány. Csak a legutóbbi időkben kezdtek el foglalkozni a hierarchikus porozitásu, mind mikro-, mind mezopórusokat egyaránt tartalmazó kristályos szilikátok előállításával és alkalmazásával.
Célunk ilyen mikro-/mezopórusos kompozitok ferriszilikát változatainak előállítása és vizsgálata. A vasionok bevitelével u.i. változtathatók a katalitikus tulajdonságok, nevezetesen módosítható a váz savassága, és a Fe3+ <=> Fe2+ folyamattal redox reakciók is katalizálhatók.
Summary
The microporous zeolites (pore size < 1 nm) have been well known since a long time, whereas the ordered mesoporous ( ~ 5 nm) silicates were first synthesized only ca. 15 years ago. The microporous systems are strictly crystalline, in contrast to the mesoporous silicates in which the pore walls are rather amorphous. Due to their stability the crystalline structures are more preferred when applying them as catalysts, whereas due to the large pore size the application of the mesoporous substances could also be favoured. Synthesis of crystalline materials with the both porosities, in the so called hierarchic structures has only been started recently.
Our aim is the synthesis and study of the ferrisilicate analogs of the micro-/mesoporous composites within the recent project. Specifically, catalytic properties can be modified by inserting iron into the structure, i.e. acidic strength can be changed and a redox feature can be generated with the Fe3+ <=> Fe2+ process. For preparing the ferrisilicate analogs of micro-/mesoporous substances we intend to modify the synthesis processes which have been approved to prepare the silicates composites. Namely, applying the method of the secondary recrystallisation of the amorphous pore walls or to construct the bimodal pore structure starting from special delaminated zeolite precursor layers. The latter variant may result in structures appropriate to host organic complex molecules as well.
Provided we succeed with the intended syntheses, further emphasis should be laid on studying and characterizing the catalytic centres, i.e. the actual coordination and oxidation state of iron ions. In addition, this knowledge is to be correlated with results of catalytic evaluation to be obtained from selected acid-catalysed and redox reactions.

Final report

Results in Hungarian
Először LTA és MFI zeolitok kialakulását majd átkristályosodását vizsgáltuk [1,3,8]. Kimutattuk a vasionok koordinációjának különbségeit, kapcsolatot találtunk a katalitikus reakciókban mutatott viselkedéssel [2]. MFI vázakban a vasionok átrendeződését, Fe2+-O-Fe3+ centrumok kialakulását detektáltuk [6]. Először hosszú szénláncot is tartalmazó amfifil templáttal (TPHOC) egylépéses szintézisben Fe-, ill. (Fe+Al) helyettesítéssel állítottunk elő vegyes porozitású ferriszilikátokat. A (Fe+Al) helyettesítéssel előállított mintákban nagyobb mértékben alakultak ki mezopórusok. Egy másik, kétlépéses eljárással először mikropórusos Fe-ZSM-5 ferriszilikát kristályait állítottuk elő, majd ezeket mezopórusos SBA-15 szerkezetbe építve kaptuk a kompozit ferriszilikátot. A projektben elvégzett munkánk eredményeit több összefoglaló közlemény elkészítéséhez is fel tudtuk használni [7,10,11].
Results in English
First, LTA and MFI zeolites were studied from the early steps of seeding to recrystallisation [1,3,8]. Available siting of iron ions are compared and correlations with catalytic properties are shown [2]. Rearrangement of iron ions by forming Fe2+-O-Fe3+ dinuclear centres during heating has also been revealed [6]. Fe-Beta and Fe-MFI zeolites were synthesized by different methods, their catalytic activities were evaluated in the decomposition of N2O [9,12]. In the next stage two variants of MCM-22 were synthesized, one with Al, the other with Fe substitution. They exhibit different properties, the former one can be more acidic, the latter may display redox changes [4]. Related structures, composite Fe-ZSM-5/Fe2O3 were compared with pillared Fe-AlPILC in wet decomposition of methomyl, the former one was more active [5]. Further on, novel methods were developed and applied to synthesize micro-/mesoporous structures. First, single iron and combined (Fe+Al) substituted ferrisilicates were prepared in a one-step procedure by using an amphiphil template with a long carbon chain (TPHOC). The (Al + Fe) substitution is more favourable for the formation of mesopores than the one without Al. Another, two-step method was also applied by preparing microporous Fe-ZSM-5 in the first step, then embedding these crystals to a mesoporous SBA-15 host in the second stage. Summarizing reviews, based partly on the results obtained in the project have also been published [7,10,11].
