Summary in Hungarian

A kidolgozott technikát a CERN SPS NA61-es méréseiben teszteljük sokkal alacsonyabb nyaláb intenzitás mellett. Szoftveresen szimuláljuk a fizikai reakciót, s detector válaszát. Tesztméréseket végzünk, ahol a kidolgozott algoritmusok alkalmasságát vizsgáljuk.

közegbeli viselkedését, különös tekintettel a vektormezonok módosulására. Bájos részecskék közegbeli módosulását is vizsgáljuk.

A FOPI programban résztvéve meg akarjuk érteni a ritka részecskék viselkedését a jelen GSI energiákon (1-2 AGeV).

Meg kivánjuk érteni a $\bar K$ nukleon kölcsönhatást kevésrászecskés rendszerekben.
Summary
In GSI, Darmstadt, a new accelerator facilty, FAIR is starting its scientific program around 2012. The new facility will provide beam energies upto around 30 AGeV for heavy ions, and high beam intensities, and intense, high-quality
secondary beams: radioactive nuclei and antiprotons. Beside LHC, this facility is the home of the most important experimental program for the near future in high energy physics in Europe.
It would be very important for the hungarian high energy community to join the programs with appropriate strength.

In the CBM collaboration we will work on the simulation of the detection of particles with high pt and ypszilon particles with mass around 9 GeV. The technics developped for this purpose will be tested in the NA61 experiment at CERN SPS at much lower beam intensity. We plan to simulate the physical reactions and detector response on software way and prepare a test equipments where we can check the feasibility of the worked out algorithmes.

In international collaboration we plan to develop a transport model and computer code which will be able to describe
realistically the collision process at FAIR energies. We plan to make predictions, especially for dileptons. We want to study hadrons in matter and the possibilty of the observation of medium effects.

We plan to study the antikaon properties in nuclear medium as a functions of density, including also the medium modifications of relevant hadrons (nucleons, pions), analyse of observable effects of medium modifications of the pion and isobar, with emphasis on vector meson properties using transport equation. We plan to study charm properties in dense matter.

Participating in the FOPI program we want to understand strangness behaviour at the present SIS energies (1-2 AGeV).

We want to understand the $\bar K$ nucleon interaction in few-body systems.

Final report

Results in Hungarian
Kaon keltés segítségével vizsgáltuk a kaon potenciált a FOPI detektorral. Tanulmányoztuk a Lambda(1405) szerkezetét realisztikus kaon potenciálokat használva.
Results in English
The main aim of this OTKA project was to prepare ourselves experimentally and theoretically for the experiments in FAIR. Since FAIR will be finished only 5 years later. Therefore here we can present mainly results only on its precursor experiments NA61/SHINE and FOPI at GSI. In order to exploit the unique possibilities of the high luminosity CBM a new trigger system was prepared. We developed a zero degree calorimeter, PSD for NA61 which can be used as a prototype for CBM. We studied the kaon potentials at the FOPI detector. We found that this potential is repulsive for K+ and attractive for K-. In theory our main aim was to construct a transport code which can be applied to higher energies, at CBM and at PANDA. We achieved this by building the Pythia package in the code. We generalized the transport code for broad resonances. We calculated e+e- production in pi-p collisions. Our main effort was spent to study hadrons in vacuum and in matter, to find signals for chiral restoration. We developed a sigma model for (pseudo)scalar and (axial)vector mesons. We reproduced their vacuum properties and identified the scalar mesons in the physical spectrum. We have shown that one can observe the partial restoration of chiral symmetry by the reduction of the eta' mass. We calculated the antiquark distribution in nucleus using a consistent pi N Delta coupling. We studied the structure of Lambda(1405) by using realistic kaon potentials.
