Summary in Hungarian
A projekt célja tovább folytatni a vektor-értékű moduláris formák elmélete és a kapcsolódó témák, csakúgy mint lehetséges fizikai és számelméleti alkalmazásaik kutatását. Többek között szándékunkban áll kidolgozni effektív módszereket a vektor-értékű moduláris formák bázisainak számolására; kiterjeszteni az elméletet a moduláris csoport véges indexű részcsoportjaira, és általánosabban nulla génuszú Fuchs-féle csoportokra; vizsgálni a Jacobi-formákkal és a húrelméleti amplitúdókkal fennálló kapcsolatokat; megvizsgálni, hogy mik az elmélet következményei a moduláris csoport ábrázolásainak osztályozására vonatkozóan. Szándékunk, hogy tovább folytassuk T. Gannon-nal, a University of Alberta (Edmonton, Kanada) professzorával fennálló rendkívül sikeres együttműködést.
Summary
The aim of the project is to continue the investigation of the theory of vector-valued modular forms and related topics, as well as their possible applications in physics and number theory. In particular, to develop effective techniques for computing bases of vector-valued modular forms; to extend the theory to finite index subgroups of the modular group, and more generally, to genus zero Fuchsian groups; to study the relation with Jacobi forms and string theory amplitudes; and finally, to investigate the implications of the theory for the classification of representations of the modular group. The intention is to pursue the highly successful collaboration with T. Gannon, from the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Canada).

Final report

Results in Hungarian
A kutatási projekt célja az elméleti fizika és a számelmélet között mutatkozó kapcsolatok jobb megértése volt a kétdimenziós konform térelméletek karaktervektoraiként megjelenő vektor-értékű moduláris formák tanulmányozása révén. A kutatás főbb eredményei: 1. Általános algoritmus kidolgozása egy adott formát eltüntető összes invariáns differenciál-operátor meghatározására, lehetővé téve a nullvektor egyenletek származtatását a karakterek ismeretéből. 2. Holomorf formákra vonatkozó dimenzió-formula elemi származtatása. 3. Összefüggés megállapítása a holomorf generátorok súlyeloszlása és az elliptikus transzformációk ábrázolási operátorainak spurjai között. 4. Sorfejtési együtthatók számelméleti és Galois-elméleti tulajdonságainak vizsgálata. 5. Egyszerű áramok fogalmának és apparátusának kiterjesztése vektor-értékű moduláris formákra. 6. Hecke-operátorok hatásának és a permutációs orbifoldok képzésével való kapcsolatának vizsgálata.
Results in English
The aim of the research project was to obtain a better understanding of the relations between theoretical physics and number theory through the study of the vector-valued modular forms appearing as character vectors of two dimensional conformal field theories. The major results obtained are: 1. General algorithm for the determination of all invariant differential operators annihilating a given form, making possible the derivation of the null vector equations from the knowledge of the characters. 2. Elementary derivation of the dimension formula for holomorphic forms of integer weight. 3. Relation between the weight distribution of the holomorphic generators and the traces of operators representing elliptic transformations. 4. Investigation of the arithmetic and Galois-theoretic properties of the expansion coefficients. 5. Extension of the notion and basic formalism of simple currents to vector-valued modular forms. 6. Investigation of the action of Hecke-operators, and its relation to the formation of permutation orbifolds.
