A Magyar Népzene Tára XI. és XII. kötete a magyar népzene kritikai forráskiadásának új, jelentős eredménye. A kötetek az MTA Zenetudományi Intézetében készültek OTKA pályázatok támogatásával. A két kötet a magyar népzene strofikus dallamanyagát adja közre típuskeretbe foglalva, Járdányi Pálnak a strófa dallamrajzán alapuló zenei rendje szerint. A VI–X. kötetek magasról ereszkedő, lejtő kvintváltó típusai után jelen két kötet a magyar népzene régi rétegének azon típusait dolgozza föl, melyeknek középső két sora egymással azonos, vagy hasonló magasságban mozog, így a dallamvonal lejtése kevésbé folyamatos, vagy kisebb mértékű. A XI. kötet (szerk. Domokos Mária) 28 típus 703 dallamát közli, (270 jegyzet-dallammal), a XII. kötet (szerk. Paksa Katalin) 24 típus 793 dallamát (244 jegyzet-dallammal). A Bevezetés részletesen ismerteti az egyes dallamtípusokat, a Dallamok fejezet tartalmazza a kották mellett azok teljes szövegeit, a Jegyzetek fejezet a gyűjtési alkalmakra, az előadóra, az előadás módjára, valamint a korábbi közreadásra vonatkozó adatokat közli, emellett utal a történeti, rokon- és szomszédnépi változatokra. Zenei és szövegmutatók valamint bibliográfia zárja a köteteket. A közreadás kétnyelvű, a kötetek teljes szöveganyaga – beleértve a dalszövegeket is – angol nyelven is közlésre kerül.
Summary
Volumes XI and XII of the series manifest new and significant results of the critical source edition of Collection of Hungarian Folk Music. They were prepared in the Institute for Musicology of the Hungarian Academy of Science, with a financial support of OTKA. Strophic music material of Hungarian folk music published here is arranged in musical types, according to Pál Járdányi’s musical system based principally on the melodic contour. After publishing the musical types descending from high and most times presenting a quintal shift structure in volumes VI–X, these two new volumes edit those types of the old layer in which the two inner melodic lines of the strophe are identical or similar to each other, moving at around the same height. The descent of the melody contour in those types are less pregnant or dominant. Volume XI (ed. by Mária Domokos) comprises 703 melodies of 28 types (with 270 more in the notes), vol. XII (ed. by Katalin Paksa) presents 793 melodies of 24 types (and 244 more in the notes). In the Introduction a detailed review provides the most important characteristic features of each type, in the Tunes (the main corpus) the music is accompanied by the texts in their whole entity, in the Notes data on the collection, on the performer, on the way of performance, and on earlier publications are supplied, together with additional historical references, and with variants among linguistically related and neighbouring nations. A Bibliography and several kinds of musical and textual indexes make the volumes complete. Being a bilinguish series, the complete text of the volumes (including the folksong texts) is translated into English.

2011-ben megjelent a magyar népzene kritikai forráskiadásának új, jelentős eredménye, a Magyar Népzene Tára sorozat XII., (Népdaltípusok 7.) kötete a Balassi Kiadó gondozásában.
A "Népdaltípusok" kötetek a magyar népzene strofikus dallamanyagát adják közre típuskeretbe foglalva, Járdányi Pálnak a strófa dallamrajzán alapuló zenei rendje szerint. A jelen kötet (a XI. kötettel együtt) a magyar népzene régi rétegének azonos típusait dolgozza föl, melyeknek középső két sora egymással azonos, vagy hasonló magasságban mozog. A XII. kötet 24 típus 793 dallamát közli további 244 dallammal a jegyzet-fejezetben.
A Bevezetés részletesen ismerteti az egyes dallamtípusokat, a Dallamok fejezet a kották mellett tartalmazza azok teljes szövegeit, a Jegyzetek fejezet a gyűjtési alkalmakra, az előadóra, az előadás módjára vonatkozó adatokat közli, emellett utal a történeti, rokon- és szomszédnépi változatokra. A közreadás kétnyelvű, a teljes szöveganyag - beleértve a dalszövegeket is - angol nyelven is közlésre kerül.
